PUJA's Story

AFTER

I had ever seen a peaceful day in my life. All I had seen was my father beating my mother, sister and me. I thought this was my life and so will continue throughout. But everything is been changed after I joined this children home. For the first time in life I have experienced peace after joining this home. Now I am given the provision of food, shelter, education and above all I have the peace in me and so I am happy to be here. I never forget the helping hands of my dear sister Janet.
— Puja

Puja was five years old when she first came to us.  Santosh, her father, is a fisherman and a regular drinker. He spends more than he earns in drinking. Kumari, her mother, does labor work on daily basis to collect dry fishes along with her first daughter Mini, the elder sister of Puja. Kumari earns the livelihood for the family. There has not been a day where this family has seen a peaceful atmosphere at home. These children have struggled to get parental love. Puja’s father comes home late night every night and beats his wife and children. Mini is physically very weak and needs regular medication and concern from her mother.

Because of this situation, after speaking with us, Puja’s mother decided to bring her to our home. Since she has come here, there has been a smile on her face for the first time in her life. Please pray for Puja's elder sister Mini to be recovered from all the physical weakness and have a good health.
